Ms. Tammy Stukes-Steadman the daughter of the late Rhuie and Ivory Stukes Steadman, was born on January 23, 1971 in Florence County.
She received her formal education in the public schools of Olanta Elementary and Lake City High School class of 1989. She was a certified Nursing Assistant at Scranton Nursing Home, in Scranton, SC. She later became a devoted caretaker for her father and mother.
Tammy was passionately known for her amazing fried chicken and potato salad. She was a dedicated cook with Qballs Smoking BBQ and Things, owed by her brother Jamie Stukes. She was faithful with everything she did until her health declined.
In her youth, Tammy attended Mount Zion Freewill Baptist Church in Olanta, SC. She later joined AFC Restoration & Deliverance Family Worship Center in Olanta, SC. Tammy was a faithful member and served on the Usher Board and Kitchen Committee. Tammy relocated to Columbia, SC and attended Final Authority Christian Center, Columbia, SC.
Tammy was affectionately called “Big Moma.” She was loving, quite full of jokes and loved her family dearly. She loved everyone she came in contact with.
On Tuesday night, December 28, 2021 at Prisma Health in Columbia, SC, God Almighty called His Servant—Tammy “Lene” Stukes—to rest from her labors. She was preceded in death by one brother, Rhuie Steadman and one sister-in-law, Joann Cannon Steadman.
Those left to cherish her precious memories are: her adopted mother, Earlene Branch, Olanta, SC; children she helped raise; Sanquinetta Stukes, Stone Mountain GA, Chaucey Nettles and Da’quan McGill both of Columbia, SC and Keristyn Goodman , Olanto, SC; six sisters, Josephine Steadman, Dennie Jamison, Abigaail Stukes, Diane Stukes all of Columbia, SC, Sanquinetta Stukes, Stone Mountain, GA and Ivory (Elllison) Goodman of Olanta, SC; five brothers, Joseph Steadman, Jamie Stukes, Michael (Lenora) Stukes all of Columbia, SC, Mack Steadman and Danny Ray Stukes both of Olanta, SC; sister-in-law Mae Cliff Steadman of Olanta, SC; three aunts, Carrie (Rev. Robert) Mosley, Florence, SC, Ozzie Bell, Darlington, SC and Lue Ella Dickley, Lynchburg, SC; one uncle, Thomas, Balitmore, MD; along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Tammy’s best friends include: Gloria Morant, cousin, Donna McElveen, Jane McFadden, Jennifer Kennedy, and Pastor Tonnie Felder, The Word Outreach Ministry.
Pressley’s Funeral Home of West Columbia, SC is in charge of the professional arrangements.
A Celebration Of Life for Ms Stukes will be held on Tuesday, January 4, 2022 at 12:00 Noon
