On Tuesday, January 14, 2020, Samuel Brown was given his eternal wings at Agape Hospice in Columbia, SC. The second eldest of 11 children, he was born on August 22, 1943 to the late Samuel and Adeline Brown and was raised in Calhoun County, South Carolina.
Samuel went to East New York Vocational HS of Brooklyn, New York, after high school he went on to work for Carbo, INC in New Jersey as a foundry worker. He was a dedicated employee, who served for over 30 years, until retirement in 2007 and relocated to Gaston, South Carolina to enjoy his retirement.
It was in Brooklyn, New York that Sammy married his love Iona Inez Lewis. From their union they parented five children: Letecia Cann, Sabrina Brown-Rahman, Nicholas Brown, Scotty Brown, Deshawn Brown. Samuel was a man of character, integrity, strength and love. He was very humble, extremely handy, and self educated. He was an advent reader, a lover of hunting, fishing and cowboy films. Sammy was known as the life of the party with his funny sense of humor.
Samuel was preceded in death by four siblings; George Brown, Sadie Brown, Vernell Scipio and Jessie Brown.
He will always be greatly cherished and remembered by his loving and devoted wife Iona to whom he was married for 55 years; five children: Letecia, Sabrina, Nicholas, Scotty, Deshawn; four grandchildren: Malanee Cann, Najih Rahman, London Rahman, Nicholas Brown, JR; surviving aunt Betty Jenkins of Gaston, SC; siblings: Jeannette Richardson and Melissa Brown of West Columbia, SC , Arlene (John) Walker of Gaston, SC, Dianne Brown of New Rochelle, New York, Steve (Tammy) Brown of Brooklyn, New York and Johnnie Mack Brown of Brooklyn, New York; a host of nieces, nephews, other loving relatives and friends.
