~Life Reflections~

Ephesians 2:4-8 “We are Saved By Grace”

Mr. Noel G. Spooner was born in Barbados, WI. on October 1, 1942. He departed this life on October 18, 2021. He was born to the late Ethelbert and Louise Parris Spooner. Noel was educated in Barbados, WI. Schools. His trade in school was carpentry. Moving from Barbados to the U.S., he continued with his education at Dillard High School in Ft. Lauderdale, FL.

His Testimony: The Lord brought me from Barbados, WI to Florida to work in the fields. From there, he moved to New York.  Noel started his Christian walk with Christ in Brooklyn, NY under the leadership of Reverend Leon Dicks of AFC Mission. He attended Bible School in Manhatten, NY under Dr. Boyce. He completed his Bachelor’s degree and then moved back to Ft. Lauderdale, FL to continue his walk with Christ under the leadership of Rev. Daniel (Miah) Boyd AFC. He later moved to Charlotte, NC where he attended Mt. Zion AFC under the leadership of Reverend James and Reverend Virginia Pressley of Columbia, SC. Noel was licensed by Pastor Sarah Carthy of Central AFC in Charlotte, NC. His current Pastor is Reverend Luther Scott, Jr. of Columbia AFC.

Minister Spooner was a Teacher and Preacher of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. A few of his favorite sermons include:  (1.) Staying by the Fountain—Genesis 49;  (2.) Where the Table is Spread–Psalm 23; and (3.) Bread enough and to spare—Luke 15. He had so many more wonderful sermons that he preached and taught.

Noel was very creative in his work. He was very proud of his work and he made history in Charlotte, NC.  He built many schools, hotels, etc. He make Charlotte, NC his home. Noel and Elizabeth A. Boyd-Spooner were married for 46 years. They were the Love of each other’s life. He was a very caring Husband, Father, Grand-Pa and God Parent. He loved being at Church, teaching Sunday School, serving as the Sunday School Superintendent, and traveling. He looked forward to visiting AFC Revival and Camp meetings. Brother Horace Holley and Reverend Glory Thomas were Noel’s Best Friends. He loved reading, watching his favorite shows—wrestling and golf. He loved gardening and it was very special to him.

Noel and Elizabeth were blessed with Jevon Spooner, Maxine Spooner and a niece Dorita Boyd.  Noel and his son Jevon had a happy moment on Friday, October 15th with his grandchildren by video. He was saying his “Goodbyes” to them. Little did we know at the time, Noel was blowing kisses to the grands and waving “Goodbye”. Praise God, He was on his journey to His Heavenly Home. He was ready to be with the Lord. Jevon said to Him, its ok to go and be with the Lord, so he took his flight way beyond the skies.

Minister Noel Spooner leaves to cherish his precious memories: His Loving Wife, Elizabeth Spooner of Charlotte, NC; son, Jevon M. Spooner of Charlotte, NC; and Daughter, Maxine Rosalie W. Spooner of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; Daughter-In-Law, Clearice Alford of Charlotte, NC; seven grandchildren; one great grandson; God Children, Dr. LaToya Scott and Irwin Scott of Atlanta, GA, David Ponder and Shanita Ponder of Virginia Beach, VA, whom he loved so dearly; a loving Nephew, I. Daryl Pressley; In-Laws, Mary S. Boyd of Bayside, NY, Deloris Watree of Augusta, GA, Carolyn and Eli Segres of Aiken, SC, Reverend Daniel N. Boyd and Jesse Boyd of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; brothers, Alston (Grace) Spooner of Brooklyn, NY, Livingston Spooner of Port Charlotte,  FL; along with a host of nieces, nephews,  cousins, friends and family whom love Noel so dearly.  While growing up Booboo was very special in helping Noel to garden.

 

 

Visitation for Mr. Spooner will be held 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 30, 2021 at the House of Rosadale Home of Funerals, LLC 5216 E. Independence Blvd.  Charlotte, NC 28212. Following Visitation will be the Home Going Service at 1:00 PM
