Milton Zanders Sr. was born March 21, 1941 in Queens, NY. He was the son of the late Grace Riley. He was preceded in death by his sister Doris Jones.
Milton was educated in the public-school system in St. Matthews, South Carolina. He was employed by Southern Plastics and retired after many years of dedicated service.
Known to many as “Yammy’, he loved playing baseball and softball. He was known to be one of the best pitchers and catchers in the greater Columbia area. You could always find him on a baseball diamond.
Yammy, married Mary Caldwell Zanders and had three loving children. Milton (Harriet) Zanders, Cayce, SC; Ann Zanders Jackson, Columbia, SC; Ernest Zanders, Winnsboro, SC. Eight grandchildren: Amanda Jackson, Britney Zanders, Ashley Marshall, Maurice Jackson, Whitney Jackson, Lauren Zanders, Marquese Wilson, and Brian C. Williams Jr. Three great-grandchildren: Khayla Fuller, Aria Richardson, and Amir Richardson. A very dear cousin Raymond Culler, the Jones family from Jacksonville, FL, and a host of other living relatives from Orangeburg, SC, Queens and White Plains, NY.
