Joseph Anthony Comager, was born in New York where he lived for many years until making his residence in South Carolina. He was the son of the late Joseph Leroy Comager who proceeded him in death and Minnie Ruth Comager. His Grandparents Elizabeth and Arthur Evans and Margaret Jackson also proceeded him in death.
He was educated in the public schools of Marion County where he received a High School Diploma in 1975. He matriculated to Voorhees College in Denmark, SC to further his education. He later decided to join and serve his country in the United States Army.
“To know his is to love him”. Anthony as he was called by family was a jokester and made people laugh when he was around them. He was also known as “Joe Conk”, “Coma Gerald” and “Joe “to some. He was a lover of basketball as he played Center for the Rains Centenary Bulldogs; he was a die- hard Duke University Men’s basketball fan, his favorite NFL team was the San Francisco Forty Niners. He was employed at Otis Spunkmeyer Corporation for many years.
On October 26, 1984, Joseph entered into holy matrimony with the love of his life Wanda as the family grew to four children, 10 grand- children and one great grand child.
On Sunday morning, February 6, 2022 at the Lexington Medical Center, with family by his side, Joseph crossed the threshold of death and entered into eternal rest.
To cherish his fond memories, he leaves his wife Wanda Comager; children: Kevin Shelton, LaStarra Comager (Derek) Hicks of the home;Tyrell (Jhayarna Riley) Comager of Columbia, SC, Sharmell Comager (Maurice) Manning of Hopkins, SC; Grandchildren: Ashley Shelton, Rakiim Deshawn Comager, Detrick Keys, Montreal Keys, Tikiah Hicks, Dakarai Hicks, Somya Comager, Carson Manning, Aubrey Smith, Jacobi Comager and Cydney Manning; Great Granddaughter: Aurbrey Smith; Three Sisters: Marcella Comager Grant of Florence, SC; Renetta Comager (William) Aldridge of Summerville, SC and Veronica Comager of Rains, SC, Nephews: Tyreese, Jamaal, Reginald and Jonathan, Nieces: Dalexis and Makenzie, Great Nephews: Zamarrious, Jackie and Messiah whom he loved dearly, and a host of other relatives and friends
