James Chavis Jr.

James Chavis, Jr. was born September 25, 1960 to the now deceased James & Johnnie Mae Chavis. James was a twin to his sister, Janice (Brigman). James Jr., fondly referred to as JJ or High-pocket, was the only boy to this family of nine siblings. JJ was educated in the Lakeview Elementary, Brookland-Grammar #1, Northside Middle, and Brookland-Cayce High Schools. He worked as a line cook for a short while; however, his main profession was in the carpentry field for the majority of his adulthood. James worked in this area until he became disabled in the early 2000s.

James came to know of Christ and salvation as a young boy at the House of Prayer and Emmanuel Churches.

James loved to have a good time. He loved good music, good food, a good laugh, and his family. He was preceded in death by both parents (James & Johnnie Mae) and four sisters (Ineatha, Helen, Corine, & Mary Ann).

He leaves to cherish his memory four sisters: Adrena (Charles - deceased), Josephine (Samuel), Janice (Curtis), Phyllis, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
