In Loving Memory of Mr. George Herbert Carraway
Mr. George Herbert Carraway, age 89, peacefully entered eternal rest on Wednesday, February 14, 2024, surrounded by his loving family at his Lexington home. Born on November 11, 1934, in Winnsboro, LA, George was a devoted Christian, cherished husband, loving father, and proud grandfather.
George's adventurous spirit soared as he once owned two planes, delighting in flying from his hometown in Winnsboro, LA, to destinations like Florida and Tennessee. An advocate for quality time, he relished moments with family and friends, especially when centered around a good fish fry. George found solace and joy in playing hymns on his guitar alongside his dear friends, Brother and Sister Osborn, and shared his passion for fishing.
A proud and devoted member of New Life Tabernacle church, George's love for the Lord radiated through his actions. His infectious smile had the power to brighten even the darkest days, leaving a lasting impact on those around him.
Throughout the years, George generously supported his Louisiana hometown, wearing many hats as a cotton farmer, owner of a cotton gin, and proprietor of businesses like Two Sisters restaurant. Following the loss of his first wife, George relocated from Louisiana to Lexington, SC, where he found love once again. On his birthday, November 11, 2007, he married his second wife, Shirley F. Carraway.
George is survived by his devoted wife, Shirley, and two step-daughters, Terri Slice (Tony) and Renee David (Rick). His legacy continues through his three sons from his first marriage, David, Ronnie, and Keith, as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A final farewell to George will take place at Providence Memorial Cemetery in Winnsboro, LA. Donations in George's memory can be made to New Life Tabernacle church at 5765 Edmund Hwy, Lexington, SC 29073.
